Shab-E-Barat is the night of forgiveness

On the eight month of the Muslim year and either on the thirteenth or fourteenth day of Shaban this festival is celebrated, coinciding just fifteen days before the arrival of Ramadan.

One interesting feature of Shab-E-Barat is that it is the night of forgiveness or Day of Atonement. Muslims pray to Allah asking for forgiveness for their sins committed as they make preparation for the arrival of Ramadan. For some this festival is known as Boraks Night

Shab-E-Barat originated from Persian language that is Shab means night and Barat means the night of commission or assignment. In Arabic language this day is known as Lailatul Bara' at, which means the night of emancipation. Some consider Shab-E-Barat as night of good fortune.

This night also marks the occasion of entry of Muhammad (S.W.A) to the holy city of Mecca. And for the Shia Muslims this night means the birth of their last Imam.

The Muslims celebrate the night of Shaba-E-Barat with the streets being illuminated with lights and candles. There is display of colorful fireworks that lit the skies and they keep awake the whole night.

Sweets like delicious Sevaaiyyan or vermicelli is made and served among friends and relatives. Acts of charity are performed by distributing goodies to the poor and needy of their deceased ancestors. Flowers are also offered to the graves of the deceased family members. Fasting on the day of the Mi’raaj and the day of Shab-e-baraath.

Asalamualaikum,

Good for posting something about Shabe-Barat, but mentioning "Muslims pray to Prophet", is just showing utter ignorance on the part of fellow muslims. Muslims do not pray to anyone except Allah, neither do they ask for anything from anyone else besides Allah. I suggest you fix this. If you meant to write send "durood", then that would mean sending peace and blessings on the Prophet (s.a.w)not praying to him.

Secondly I would suggest not posting anything that can not be backed by an authentic Hadith, I am pointing towards you saying "believes that on this night the prophet visit each house to relieve their pain and sufferings".

Wasalam.
