World facing monster of terrorism: Zardari
President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday said the world, including Pakistan, should come together to tackle the monster of terrorism and to do away with the past legacy of fundamentalism.

World powers owe anti-terror cooperation to Pakistan: Zardari
President Asif Ali Zardari Sunday said Pakistan is fighting militant insurgency for its survival but the world powers including the United States must back Islamabad’s anti-terror effort as they also bear a collective responsibility for the current turmoil in the region. “It’s a war of our existence. We have been fighting this war much before 9/11. They (militants) are a kind of a cancer created by both of us, Pakistan and America, and the world.”

Around 200 miscreants killed by security forces in Shangla, Swat during last 24 hours: ISPR
Around 200 miscreants have been killed in various areas of Swat and Shangla by the security forces during the last 24 hours while the civilian population in the area has been warned to be vigilant and careful as the miscreants have planted IEDs in various areas of Mingora and Swat to put the blame of civilian casualties on the security forces. According to ISPR here on Sunday, suspected locations of miscreants were engaged at, Kanju, Mingora, Venaibaba, Namal, Qambar, Peochar (Miscreants Headquarters), Fizagath, Tiligram, Chamtalai by the security forces in the effort to purge the area of militants where reportedly 50-60 miscreants were killed.

Gilani commends provinces for achieving wheat production target
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has commended the endeavours of the provinces especially Punjab and Sindh to achieve wheat production target in the country. He has assured the farmers that procurement operation would continue till their surplus wheat is exhausted.

President Zardari to address Pakistanis in N.Y
President Asif Ali Zardari is scheduled to speak to Pakistani-Americans about Pakistan’s domestic and foreign polcy issues at a local hotel on Sunday afternoon. The President arrived here Friday night after a four-day official visit to Washington where he conferred with US President Barack Obama and other administration officials as well as congressional leaders. He also took part in the three-way meeting of leaders of the the United States, Pakistan and Afghanistan on the Afghan strategy.

President directs govt to properly look after IDPs
President Asif Ali Zardari has directed the federal government to properly look after the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). In a message from New York, the President expressed special concern over the displacement of people from Swat and Malakand Division in the wake of ongoing operation in the area and asked the government for their proper care.

Pakistan’s anti-Taliban operation has national backing, nuclear assets safe: Petraeus
General David Petraeus, chief of the US Central Command on Sunday reaffirmed Pentagon’s confidence in the safety of Pakistan’s nuclear assets as he also acknowledged a much broader backing for Islamabad’s ongoing anti-Taliban operation in the northwester Swat valley region.

Taliban cannot override state, are limited geographically: Haqqani
Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani has said the Taliban are limited geographically and do not have the ability to overrun the state as he told the American viewers in a news channel interview that economic development and bolstering Islamabad’s counterinsurgency capability can effectively stem the Talibanization.
