President Zardari seeks world support for Pakistan in fight against terrorism

TOKYO, Apr 17 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to fighting terrorism on Friday urged the world to extend all out support and cooperation to the country in eliminating this menace, which threatens the peace of whole world. “With all humility, I am asking the world to help us fight this terrorism which if not tackled will not end to our borders only and could spread,” President Zardari told the participants of the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FODP) ministerial meeting.

Haqqani urges support, patience, understanding on Pakistan’s anti-terror effort

WASHINGTON, April 17 (APP): Describing economic and political stability as critical to Pakistan’s anti-terror success, Islamabad’s ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani Friday urged Washington and other world capitals to show patience and understanding for his country’s multifaceted effort to turn the tide of violent extremism afflicting the region.

SANYA, April 16 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari will arrive here Friday to represent Pakistan at the 8th annual Boao Forum for Asia and discuss with world leaders challenges and uncertainties that Asia faces in the light of the global financial crisis. The President will arrive here from Tokyo after chairing a meeting of the Friends of Pakistan and a Donors Conference hosted by Japan to help the country confront economic challenges it was facing, particularly in the backdrop of activities of extremists and militants.

President to visit China to participate in Boao Forum meeting

ISLAMABAD, Apr 16 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari will pay a three day visit to China from tomorrow to attend the annual conference of Boao Forum for Asia 2009. “President Zardari will be a key note speaker at the plenary session under the theme ‘Asia: Managing Beyond Crisis’ in the Boao Forum,” said Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit in his weekly briefing here on Thursday.


Gilani, Shahbaz resolve to strengthen democratic institutions

TOKYO, Apr 16 (APP): Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso on Thursday said Japan would provide upto $ one billion financial assistance to Pakistan to support the country in its economic reforms and counter‑terrorism efforts. The assistance will be formally announced during the donors conference and the Friends of Democratic Pakistan meeting, said Prime Minister Taro Aso at a joint press stakeout with President Asif Ali Zardari after wide‑ranging talks between the two leaders.
